Patient Recruitment System

“Automated Patient Recruitment. reducing cost and delays“

ii4sm’s Patient Recruitment System (PRS) offers significant time and cost-savings of clinical trials by automated matching of protocol eligible criteria with patient’s data in electronic health records. Thus, PRS enables a faster and a more efficient targeted recruitment. PRS is able to identify eligible patients in electronic health records such as EMRs, narratives, health insurance and claims documents.

Eligibility criteria can be mapped between all standard medical and hospital specific terminologies; free-text is screened with the support of a natural language processing function. PRS’ web-based application is easy to use and can be employed for all disease indications, interventional and observational trials, in virtually all hospital systems, and in acute and ambulatory settings.

Benefits

Supports study design by running multiple scenarios and determine how many patients are actually available

Faster and more reliable identification of suitable trial centers

Shorter study duration and lower cost due to reduced time for patient recruitment

Better performance and higher attractiveness as a trial site, leading to more clinical trials and revenues

ii4sm’s Patient Recruitment System (PRS) screens and finds eligible patients in electronic health records.

PRS enables:

Feasibility Studies

Optimization of study design and selection of trial sites by determining the sites with the highest number of patients that can be recruited.

Terminology Mapping

To ensure semantic interoperability between sponsor and trial sites, source terminologies (e.g., Snomed-CT, LOINC) used by sponsor are mapped to the target terminologies (e.g., ICD-9/ICD-10) used at the trial sites.

Patient Identification

Automated patient identification by matching protocol eligibility criteria, co-morbidities and co-medications against patient’s details in electronic health records.
